Abstract:
Getting finer grain structure in low carbon steel is good from mechanical point of view. Because finer grain give higher yield strength and decreases ductile-brittle transition temperature. Experiment is carried out by heating the specimen to 1250°C and then quenching followed by warm rolling and annealing at 850°C for forty minutes following air cooling or quenching. Initial size of the grain is 100µm and final grain size after whole of thermal process is 1.2µm.
