Abstract:
Image Quality assessment plays an important role in image analysis because of which it has been a topic of intense research over the last several decades. This study gives an overview of the process of image quality measurement for liveness assessment of biometric modalities and techniques employed by previous researchers of the biometric community to obtain an image quality measure to differentiate between real and spoofed biometric access’s. The objective of the study is to enhance the already existing knowledge base for security of biometric recognition frameworks and to encourage the development of reliable methodologies of spoof detection and their countermeasure’s assessment and solution. In this review the pros and cons of biometric fraud access done by spoofing or direct attack is also mentioned which will help the researchers to estimate the vulnerabilities of the biometric system. The goal of this survey is not only to help practitioners and researchers keep abreast of the recent advances in IQA, but also to also raise awareness of the key limitations of current IQA knowledge.
